The firmware is 3.41 which is booted into a 3.55 cfw by using an old jailbreak dongle and power on eject method. The modified 3.41 is spoofed to 3.56 so 3.55 ofw isnt available.

to be able to install 3.55 ofw, and a standalone cfw without having to boot into a unknown 3.55 cfw.

when I go to system information it reads 3.41, but when I put in recovery mode to try it from there, it said I have to install a firmware greater then 3.56.

I think so, but at the same time it's your fault. Should have read up on the SERIAL of the PS3 before buying. See what you can do with that, because now you can't do certain things like going CEX to DEX. (You need accessibility to 3.55 fw.)

Well, here's the thing from what I understand. Your saying that when you are looking at 'System Settings' on the XMB, it says 3.41, correct? This means that it is not spoofed as it would be different, in this case, 3.56. When you got the console, did the seller say that he downgraded it? What this appears to be is a syscon error and will require you to dehash your console. Don't worry it isn't hard to do.
