you CANNOT*** downgrade any firmware above 3.55 without a flasher. Dont bother looking for an easier way with a usb. Many claim its possible and its not. Check craigslist , ebay etc... typically people will do it for around $50. You can convert cex to dex with rebug cfw its fairly easy with the right tutorial. Theres a few really good ones on NGU

Go to regero 4.55 cex then convert to dex ....rtm on dex is smooth and mod menus run without a hicup. If u going to do this just read the cex2dex tut and follow on from there once on rebug dex go to 4.50 ita dex as this is the most advanced and smooth cfw there is

Well they are claiming you can simply put a PUP file on a USB, plug it in, and update via storage media. Any FW 3.56+ cannot be jailbroken like that, due to the change Sony made for that reason. As for going from CEX to DEX, there are ways of converting. There is no need to go buy a DEV ps3 for crazy prices.

HAHA I remember having to pay for that mod chip aswell . I found a guy here in canada (Ottawa) on kijiji. He charges 50$ for downgrade. Id like to buy an E3 flasher and try it myself eventually. But id sooner trust someone with some experience then bricking my ps3. I usually always go to the same guy. Never had any problems! happy modding!
