(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); If one was, inclined to flash his PS3 with CFW, which firmware would you advise to use for best stability and such?

Why would you suggest that over Rogero 4.55 then?

Ok so I've done a little reading and it seems I have no way to get my PS3 jailbroken unless I downgrade it to OFW-3.55 first by soldering something to my motherboard?

I was hoping something like that wouldn't crop up...

If it's a ps3 that's higher than 3.55, then yes you will have to use a E3 Flasher. (Super Slim model excluded), either that, find someone who does it locally, or buy a 3.55/already on cfw ps3.

This article is claiming you can do it without flashing to 3.55, rather just doing a system update from USB (to Rogero 4.46)

Is this bull***t?

Once your jailbroken... I would suggest converting to DEX, that is, if you don't want to worry about updating your cfw. As being on DEX bypasses each new FW update, enabling you to sign into PSN.

What is your take on the article I posted above your comment?

Also, you can install DEX firmware on a CEX PS3? Or are you advising I buy a supposedly very expensive dev. PS3

Sorry, I'm slightly ignorant to PS3 modding.

That is bull***t. You cannot downgrade any FW that is 3.56+ with just a USB. You HAVE TO buy external hardware to do the downgrade process.
