i did one last week and i seem to have "semi"-bricked it, but that's another discussion i guess. for now, i would really appreciate any guidance on flashing/patching this console please. i know that it can be done, i just haven't learned hot to.....yet!

I think you can flash your PS3 on 3.56 but there isn't much tutorials about it. I guess you can't jailbreak it the easy way, it's hard :p.

Get a dump and validate it. With PS3 flash tool make sure to use it and see if it is mtldr or mtldr2!!!
If you have mtldr, then you can continue to downgrade using :REBUG 4.46.1 REX with syscon changed to 9.99

Hi Guys,

ive managed to get a dump from the console that's currently on 3.56 and I ran it through PS3 dump checker and was met with the following warning message: "Warning: nor must be patched with 4.30/4.31 Patchset to install CFW on this machine!" .
I would like to know please 1) what does this mean? (and or future occurrences) and 2) what is my next step? I would really appreciate some assistance with this issue please?
(lowest downgradeable to 3.56.It has metldr, metldr Header, metldr0 and metldr1 - I have no idea what that means though)

Make sure you have metldr and not metldr2, it will tell you when you try to patch it up
You need to patch it up with the latest Ps3 flash tool.
Afterwards, reflash with the patched up bkpp3.bin with all switches down

thanks for replying bro. i am using PS3 flash tool build 348. i can confirm i have Metldr and not metldr2. when i drag the original dump into the prog i get the "nor must be patched with 4.30/4.31 patchset....." message. i click ok and it asks me if i want to patch image. i clicked OK.
so now im going to flash the patched image back? (right?)
will it boot up correctly if i do this?
If so i will install 9.99_REBUG_4.46.1_REX_PS3UPDAT....... concur?

Correct flash with all switches down.
Afterwards, go into safe/recovery mode to install the 9.99_REBUG_4.46.1_REX_PS3UPDAT
and then continue with the guide bro
