- Should I purchase an older non-updated PS3 to mod?
- Should I purchase an already modded PS3? Is that even possible anywhere? If so, who do you suggest?
- Stay CEX or go DEX?
- Am I correct that a 4.55 is dead in the water currently?
- If you were in MY shoes, what would YOU do?
I have looked through dozens of posts for answers to most of these questions and they are either few and far between or have people bickering about which way is better. Thanks in advance for any help...I truly appreciate it.

- Should I purchase an already modded PS3? Is that even possible anywhere? If so, who do you suggest? - Nah buy a 3.55 so you can do any firmware without using 999 downgrader
- Stay CEX or go DEX? - Depends, I prefer DEX since I RTM most of ghost tools are DEX as well. So if you plan on doing that stuff DEX is for you. Best CFW with dex is 4.50ITA
- Am I correct that a 4.55 is dead in the water currently? - What do you mean "Dead in the water?"
- If you were in MY shoes, what would YOU do? - Get a 3.55 upgrade to 4.46.1 d-rex then 4.50ita

Based on the experience you've informed me about, I'd say you should grab something that will last long, and new. I say either of these two options are fine depending on how much your able to spend: Option A: Buy a brand new Playstation 3 slim, Buy a E3 Flasher and go through the steps to downgrading it to 3.55. Option B: Buy a brand new Playstation 3 Slim on Ebay/Craigslist/Amazon with 3.55 or lower follow steps to install firmware. Cex OR Dex? I'd say Cex because 1. You're a "Newbie" and in the process of Converting to Dex you may brick your system quite easily. 2. You should first get the hang of "Cex" before you convert. 3. You can also RTE on Cex but not as easily as Dex. All in all I think you should go with either option A and, or option B and stay in Cex till you get the hang of it and think you're ready.
