You're choice mate, no harm will be done if you decide to install 3.55 OFW or kmeaw CFW first or a 4.xx CFW (CEX) first. i advise Rogero's 4.55 if you choose a to go on a 4.55 first after you've successfully downgraded your ps3.

But if you want to immediately from day 1 want to convert to DEX for RTE/RTM'ing then.. DIRTY SMASHER is right, you'll save yourself a few steps if your PS3's first on 3.55.
