I'll turn it off either by the xmb or the power button but only problem is none of them work. What I mean is, when I turn it of the green light just keeps lighting up. I'll wait for like 5 mins and it will still do the same thing. So then I'll just unplug the power cord. Ik your not supposed to do that but that's the only way to shut it off. Any help please? I just recently noticed this about 2 days ago.

Happens a lot on a Jailbroken ps3, or atleast I was told so, don't worry about it, if it takes more than 30 seconds to shut it down, just unplug it. Since it's already kind of shutdown your data should be just fine.

hold the power button for about 30 seconds for it to shut off, it does that to me sometimes, it does that when it locks up but nothing to really worry about its just a pain in the ass lol

If you're using a DEX system, the safest way to shut down your PS3 is to have Target Manager connected to the system and use "Reset to system software (XMB)" to perform a safe reboot of your system. If however, you are not on DEX, and instead using CEX, a simple wait for a response (15 to 30 seconds) then pull the plug is probably safe (As others in the forum have stated.) though not guaranteed.

This happens to me a lot to, just wait 15-30 seconds and if it still hasn't shut down simply unplug it from the power cord. This happens a lot on a jail broken PS3 and is nothing you should really worry about as it's normal .

It's not good if it does this. I would format your hard-drive. If it happens on mw3 then it's normal. They fucked the quit game code even on ofw
