I gave my old ps3 slim away as a gift (a decision I kinda regret now, but the model wasn't capable of downgrading to 3.55 anyway) and I got a playstation 4. I kind of miss my old ps3 games and have been thinking about finally getting that jailbroken ps3.

So do you guys think that now's the time to purchase a playstation 3 on 3.55? Or do you think that I should wait? I wouldn't be able to get it until next month about when school starts, so i have no problem with waiting another year. Do you think modded ps3's will be cheaper by then? Do you think they'll have more mods to play around with? Or should I just get one now. If so, what would be the best way to do that? Craigslist? Ebay?

Why would they be cheaper in a year? As many people have said, PS4 probably won't be jailbroken for 4-5 years, maybe "never", so the PS3 scene is still going, as more games are coming out, and new exploits/mods are being made for older games. Personally, I bought an OFW 3.55 off of eBay for $220. I used the buy it now option instead of wasting time bidding. I chose an ofw instead of an already jailbroken one, to get the full experience of jailbreaking a PS3. Since then, I had learned so much about modding, in respect to real time editing and everything. It's the best decision I've made by far. I've hosted modded zombie lobbies on both Black Ops and Black Ops 2 and everybody had fun. Nobody got hurt. We didn't cheat to high rounds. We just have fun noclipping, super jumping, teleporting, etc. Definitely get it. Even if you're not into Call of Duty, you'll still have bunch of other games to try out, or you can download games that you don't have money for. Like, I'm going for the Assassin's Creed series, as I don't understand shit about the story. Watching free movies is a pretty good deal and relieves stress on a computer.

It is. Especially when you can get randoms in a lobby. They'll be like "what the fuck?" and it'll be the funnest thing in their gaming experience. But it's also let me explore all of the Black Ops 2 zombie maps with completely no fog. Things I've been wanting to do for ages, I can because of jailbreaking. And from what I understand, you can play PS2 games as well, and emulate nintendo games.

I think you should get one. Not only you can mod game but you don't have to spend a penny on games or dlc anymore and sometimes you get DLC and games early. Not to mention emulators and any PSX,PS2,PSP game can be played on a Jailbroken PS3. Im not going to lie but you might get bored modding games especially COD. The only games I've never got bored of modding is GTA V and Minecraft because there is so much to do and you can be creative with what mods you can combine. If you get one stay on CEX so you can learn the basics on how CFW works have fun and don't be afraid to ask me for help.

Haha ok I might take you up on that offer. There's so many tools available and I'm doing as much as I can to educate myself but its still a little overwhelming for someone trying to get into the scene.

Everything will be fairly easy once you learn the basics. My advice to give is to get your downloads/tools ready, ask questions, and watch plenty of youtube videos for tutorials. I highly recommend watching MzBomberz for CFW tutorials for newcomers.

Well, I guess in regards to Call of Duty, sure don't pay for it. But there are great games out there that deserve to be bought. I mean, I would never buy Ghosts, but I would definitely buy Skyrim. I wouldn't buy Assassin's Creed, because there's too many, but I would buy Arkham Knight.
