Edit: Ordered and received my 1Tb Hard Drive and upgraded it successfully!

Hey guys!

I am ordering a new 1TB Internal hard drive for my CFW ps3.

How do I upgrade it without having to update to ofw or whatever.

I am on 4.50ita DEX firmware.

Thanks,
-mc

What i have heard about upgrading a internal hard drive is that you would have to switch back to any CEX CFW to prevent any semi bricks. But to be on the safe side what I would do is install 3.55 CEX OFW to upgrade the hard drive.

So just go back to CEX and install 3.55 OFW firmware and upgrade it?

To be on the safe side that's what I would do. But you can also do it on any CEX CFW.

I think I'll just take the safe way and go back to 3.55 OFW to do it. Would hate to spend the $60 or so on the hard drive just to get bricked, you know?

Make sure to use MD5 or a firmware checker so you won't update the PS3 on accident.

Well since 3.55 came out years ago people have passing around the latest OFW and renaming them 3.55 so when people are looking for them and downloading them they accidentally update to the latest OFW.
MD5 Checker Download: You must login or register to view this content.
3.55 MD5 Hashes: copy this: (ca595ad9f3af8f1491d9c9b6921a8c61) (source: You must login or register to view this content.)
