Yup, you need a Blu Ray drive because IF you would download BO I or whatever you need to lanch it with MultiMAN or sth else and without working Blu Ray Drive you can't launch Homebrew. Btw: You could also purchase into a legit service if your brother needs the hacks / recoveries.
