any software that will work?

restart to what . o turn it off always and it wont play a dvd. it will play games tho just not dvds.

No software will make it work again. Open the system and look at the ribbons and make sure they're connected right

the dvd player works sweet , it plays every single game perfect, just when i stick a dvd film in it wont read it,
could it be the jailbrake?

DEX systems don't play dvds, you can rip the dvd with Magic Dvd Ripper and copy an AVI file to your ps3.
