I recently bought a new e3 flasher, of course i had to waste the extra money and get the "Limited" which i didn't need. So I paid someone to walk me threw the steps on skype. (hes had over 200 consoles done successfully.) So i did everything correctly, i got good reads, rote the new flash. NO BRICK! i was so excited, it booted to the "connect controller no and press ps button. Then it ask for a 4.55 or higher firmware. So i then connect my rogero 9.99 downgrader. After clicking the start and select buttons, it tells me "No applicable update data was found." I know FORSURE that i have the correct firmware. I also have formatted my usb and tried again, multiple times. Tried differnet usb's. Still nothing. So i thought "well hey, maybe i broke my ribbon cable." So i ordered a brand new one off ebay. Still NOTHING!! i have hooked everything up correctly, does anyone have any idea?
PS: I dont need your "try this and this crap" if you have never done a downgrade or have any experience. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE MY TIME! Ive been waiting a week for the ribbon to come in, and i dont have the patients.

Make sure to have the PS3UPDAT.PUP in the correct location PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP and try the 1st USB Slot not the second one! Had the same problem once. And do it via Recovery Menu!!
I totally agree with マated!!!!
"No applicable update data was found" is big giveaway to your problem!
Meaning the ps3 cannot locate the PUP on the USB
Few thing might be wrong:
1) The usb is not working, but then again you said you tried different ones
2) The usb not on FAT32
3) The pup is potentially corrupted
4) The folder structure is not correct: USB\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP
5) The PUP is not names correctly: PS3UPDAT.PUP
Also, makes sure to go into safe/recovery mode when you install the Rogero 3.55 downgrader and remove any disc in the BD!
Unfortunately, you should have not wasted your $$$ on a new clip!
If you got good dumps and reflashed successfully with the old clip, then I see no need for a new one.
I guess it would be good to have if your planning on downgrading more ps3s later
