(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So I got a PS3 today which has GLOD. It is a 60GB model. It starts up but there is no signal, the power button stops working so I have to turn it off at the switch at the back and the USB ports don't recognize a controller. I've tried going into recovery mode but that does nothing. I know the PS3 is running old firmware, at least before 3.55. Should I reflow the RSX?

The only thing I tried was holding the power button to get into recovery mode. What do you mean by keep pressing the power button?

I tried resetting the video but it still didn't work. I then took out the hard drive to see if it was causing the GLOD but that didn't do anything. I guess I'll just have to reflow the RSX. Hopefully it all works and then I can check what FW version it is running. I reckon the console was sitting for a few years and in that time the RSX got a crack in one of the solders.

YLOD is due to over heating you will need to reflow the chips you could try doing a fan test that might get the power flowing backing through the console

I opened the console and reflowed the chips. The RSX chip was covered in dust around the edges and the thermal paste was as dry as a desert. 25 seconds on each chip with the heat gun got the console going. Since the console is also a 60GB is doesn't actually have the fan test function.
