can you rtm a disc game or does it have to be a back up in multiman?

if i go on a cfw ps3 and just play online normally no mods or anything like that could they tell im on cfw and ban me? and if they can what is the best way to try to prevent it?

Just going online while on cfw is a risk. You can use homebrew apps like PSNinja to wipe history, and PSN Patch to disable cfw syscalls. You'll get banned regardless, there isn't a specific amount of time before you they do.

You can rtm either way. I've been signing into psn the past year running back-ups, cracked dlc & games, etc. and never been banned. Games like bo2 used to report your console id to Sony which would result in a ban from psn, but it seems they stopped. Just remember to NEVER run homebrew when signed into psn and you should be fine. :p
