On Midnight Club LA, hex modding used to be very popular. But all tools and saves and videos showing "mods" I found feature silly over the top cars. Colour mods, power multipliers, multiplied hydraulics etc. Sure that's fun for a while but I'm looking for something else: part swaps! Can parts of cars be swapped by modding the save? Sort of like in Gran Turismo where lots of the car's parts are stored in the save instead of the game data, so they can be edited and moved from one car to another. I'd be especially interested in engine swaps to improve some car sounds.

If there's any guide or tools available already allowing this type of modifications I'd be very happy if you could link them. I already googled back and forth for a while but people only seem interested in silly mods for this game which makes searching difficult. So I hope people with similar interests see this. If you're interested in digging into the save together with me, I'd be up for that too.
