Post: How Do You Go From 4.50 DEX ITA To 4.66 OFW?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I was on 4.50 DEX ITA & I used DEX 3.55 downgrader to downgrade to 3.55 so I could go to 3.55 OFW then to 4.66 OFW but I tried to install 3.55 OFW and it says "No applicable update data was found.". I don't know what to do. I thought you were supposed to just downgrade to 3.55 CFW & install 3.55 OFW then install the 4.66 OFW but I guess I was wrong. I've been searching & doing trial & error for the passed 2 hours now with no success. Can someone please tell me what to do before I brick my PS3. Thanks!

Just use psnpatch, then launch with multiman. Worked for me.

You could just buy another PS3 and at least you'll still have a CFW console as well? Just a thought Smile

To go from a DEX custom firmware to an Official Firmware requires you to convert back to CEX.
Official Firmwares are designed to be installed on a release PS3, (CECH) with a CEX lv2 flash target. When you convert to DEX, you edit the lv2 target ID to DEX, which is the default target ID for a pre-release or debugger console, (DECH) allowing custom debugger firmware to be installed.
Taking this into account, it's obvious that it would be impossible to install firmware that is designed to implement itself on a system with a CEX flash target, making it necessary to convert the flash target back to CEX in order to install a CEX based firmware.

If you have the original flash dumps (NOR/NANDBINS) from when you converted the console to DEX, you're gonna save yourself a lot fo time. All you'd need to do is load up Rebug toolbox & rewrite the target ID back to CEX, then install a CEX firmware and update to the latest OFW. If you haven't got the original flash files, you're gonna have to find a tutorial on how to convert without them. I would suggest a tutorial, but I have never done it myself & wouldn't want to suggest a crap tutorial.

I'm back on 4.50 DEX ITA now & when I run Rebug Toolbox it says "Your system is not running on compatible REBUG configuration! Some options will not be available." & I don't have the "write target ID to CEX" or whatever. It says "CEX/DEX Functions Not Available Install REBUG REX EDITION to access these functions."... Thanks for the replies, guys. I can downgrade & jailbreak PS3's I've just never switched from DEX to CEX or OFW before.

You'll need to switch over to a Rebug D-REX firmware in order to use the CEX/DEX options included in Rebug Toolbox. Smile
