You either haven't applied the paste well enough; it's really crappy paste, or the PS3 is on the way out, and needs to be repaired, either with a re-flow or a re-ball.
I've had that issue on an old fat console in the past, and unfortunately it didn't last too much longer.
Anyway, do you have a fat or slim console?

Fat bro, bought it of someone cause it had no display all I did was format the hard drive and it was working again, but maybe its the HDD? Last time I put the paste on I did a really paper thin coat all over then the pea the second time just pea, the first time it worked fine obvs just over heated, also iv done the thin layer all over then pea method on my last and it worked a treat, as I opened it would it of been better just to re paste both or just the one acting up.....

Well I suppose it could be a dodgy HDD, but my guess is that it needs to be repaired. Applying new paste isn't a repair for the YLOD, it just helps it stay cooler. A YLOD happens when solder connecting the chips to the main board has cracked or deformed in some way, and can no longer make a connection.
