Use a game manager like ITA manager or GameSonicManager, i had problems with running back ups on Rex 4.46 as well through multiman. So that's when I started using game mangers.

Try having a game disc in your tray does not matter what game, Once you have a game in there go head and run multiman and try running the back up it will take you to xmb and it should show up on the game disc,

Tried with and without game disc, doesnt work.
