Are these HDD's blank? If so just replace the old HDD that is in the PS3 and the console will notify you that it needs formatting. Even if it is not blank it might still do it but I would need someone to confirm that as I have only replace blank ones.

Although that depends on the blank HDD's current format. You could try that method but if I am wrong please someone let me know
