What you need:
(1) PS3 with corrupted HDD
(1) Other PS3 on OFW (Ask a friend to borrow it, takes no more than 10 mins)
(1) HDD that is Corrupted

Directions
1) First off, take the corrupted HDD out of the PS3 it is in.
2) Put HDD in the other PS3 that is on OFW.
3) Boot into Safe mode on the OFW PS3.
4) Restore the HDD.
5) Plug "Corrupted" HDD into the PS3 you originally took the HDD out of.
6) Boot into safemode, it should ask you to restore the HDD again, if not just restore it once more just in case.
7) Plug in a USB with the firmware that you got stuck on, or last firmware you were on. (PS3>UPDATE>PS3UPDAT.PUP)
9) PS3 should now update with no problem, if it gets stuck at 99% just give it time, it will update. You can now resume with your CFW like before.
10) Have fun.
