Update, when i change the display and hold the on button to reformat the output nothing happens but when I bring it back to the usual display it displays a black screen

Went into recovery mode, to do this go intp standby and hold the on button till it turns on then off. Then re press the on button in till it double beeps. Then it should be in recovery, connect controller and select number 6, system update, put your firmware (cfw) on in the location and update. Done

* It may not work if when you installed Cfw you didn't copy firmware to Ps3 but I'm guessing it should work because you update from usb*
