Post: Can a 2501A PS3 Slim be downgraded

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I got my PS3 in November 2010. It's a 2501A model. It was the LBP, ModNation Racers, and Cars BluRay bundle.

I always thought it was 120GB, but it says 149GB on System Information.

Anyway, I tried the MiniVerTech thing, and it doesn't work. It says something like nothing can be found in the slot. I tried it on both.

On the bottom of my PS3, where all the information is, it says Manufactured September 2010.

Yet, I asked on Yahoo, and this person said PS3s made in March were already coming out with 3.70..something like that. That they were updated above 3.55 before came out for people who already had a PS3. I don't really believe them, cause I've seen answered from him, and he is always against jailbreaking, game sharing etc. like to the core.

I just asked a friend who has a JB system if it is, and he said yeah.

I just wanna make sure before I send it to someone.

Hiya bud... If you have a quick google search (I would do it for you but I'm on my phone) you should see a table of consoles that are able to be downgraded and ones that aren't. The way to check is by the serial number (I.e. chech-xxxx for instance) if it says that it is compatible then you're good to go! If not then I'm afraid not bud... I'll see what one mine is quick... I shall quote you again Smile

you need to make sure yourr USB is formatted to FAT32

The folder directory should be: USB\PS3\UPDATE

The PUP file needs to be named as PS3UPDAT.PUP

The PUP file needs to be inside USB\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP

With this MinverChk you can definitely know if you can downgrade safely.
Hope that you're at least 3.55
but you can still do it on 3.56 but you need to take a different approach.
