Ive seen videos that some people leave the HDD plugged in and some others don't Im I suppose to leave it or take it off I tried both and I still get any error No matter how hard I press on it and the lights are bright!! there not low it has the connection but I keep getting this error how do I fix it THANKS!!!

I have no idea regards to flashing a ps3, but my best advice would be to go on youtube & look at a guide for your slim model on how to flash it.

To be honest I have done slims but always removed the HDD when grabbing the flash.

It never affects the model I believe as I have never had an issue.

The problem sounds like the clip is not sitting correctly on the chip and you may be pressing down on it hard but that could damage it resulting in a broken connector so the best thing I would suggest is to install the E3 and re assemble the PS3 but place a couple of pennies or something similar on the top of the clip before assembling and you should be good.

I had this problem with 2 different PS3's and the pennies did the trick.

Again I left the HDD out of the PS3 and then dumped the nor.

I would clean the nor chip & clip connections with some isopropyl alcohol & a clean toothbrush.

Dont use to much liquid & make sure any excess is dried up/ evaporated.

You can use a hair dryer on very low heat to dry after cleaning.

I would say flash with the hdd in it, start ps3 as normal...Wait till hdd light has stopped flashing then try to backup again.

On slims there are some small chips near the nor that get in the way. (see pic)

You have to cut a small bit of the E3 clip so it seats properly.

While the clip is attached get a torch & look to see if the e3 clip is touching the ps3 motherboard all the way round.

What ps3/mobo have you got ??
