There is no jailbreak for any firmware higher than 3.55 but when you downgrade you can jailbreak and install Homebrew and everything else.

Yes you will need to downgrade yourself to 3.55, it's not done on its own. After that you can jailbreak that firmware and do as you please.

No, once you downgrade you will be on 3.55 OFW. You must then jailbreak it with a 3.55 PUP. I recommend Kmeaw.
