change to another memory stick, the ps3 deleting files off the usb is unprecedented, the first time, either that or you are doing something strangely wrong.

this is might sound crazy but have you tried putting it on the root of the usb drive instead of inside folders ps3/update/ps3updat.pup ?

That does sound crazy lol na i havent ill explain in depth what happens basically i make the folder "PS3">"UPDATE"PS3UPDAT.PUP" and it always deletes the "UPDATE" folder idk have a clue why does same with games aswell

try it, launch consoles had some trouble like that.
