its model CECH-2501A and i keep getting failed backups when i do the checks on my computer
It was previously modded but my friend updated so im not sure if that might be a cause
should i wipe the system clean or should i update to version 4.75 because its currently on 4.70

if your planning on just keeping it as a normal console i would consider making a backup of your ps3 on to a external device and restoring.

i want it to be jailbroken but do i need to restore everything because i had updated by accident from 4.65 to 4.70

Only way to go back down is by using a E3 Flasher.
