There always is a possibility..

Being in the app for about 5 seconds whilst being signed in will not get you banned. If he has ccapi installed that is like being in a homebrew app and also flags up on sonys comp, so if he was to get banned it will most probably be because of ccapi. So i personally dont see a problem here. As long as he dont do it excessively he will be fine.

Even if you use PSNinja you might still get banned, due to this is because Sony sees that you have no game history or anything like that. But it's all about luck. You might or might not get banned, it all comes to on how lucky you are.
