Post: Ps3 GPU problem?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hello ngu.
One of my cfw recently started acting up and being weird.. It has this black and white checkerboard kind of thing on the screen then it freezes.. I think it's the gpu thats broken or something becuse the ps3 is flashed so it's been open before, anyway i've noticed that if i leave it turned off for a few hours it can be used for 1-2 minutes before it freezes, witch makes me belive that it's the gpu becuse the ps3 works when the gpu is cool and it seems to freeze once it gets hotter.. I have tried applying new thermal paste to it and i've formated the hard drive and tested all the display outputs(Not that really should of mattered..)

Any thoughts about this?
Here is a video for you so you can see what i'm talking about.

You can try fix the solder points if that doesn't work then a new Rsx. People sell them on ebay.

Reflow it with a heat gun & some no clean flux.

Its all well & good buying a new rsx, but you got to get the old one off & the new one on.

If you want to do a good job you need a bga machine, good ones cost thousands of pounds, crap ones are about £600

It looks like i've fixed it now.. I replaced the thermal paste under the IHS and i've been able to install habib 4.70 with no problem and i've let it be on now for 30 min with no problem Smile
