Make sure system mode is on "Normal" it can be found in Rebug Toolbox. Make sure you have enabled QA Flag and then just install 3.55, here is a link to rebug.me there are tons of rebug stuff on there including the firmware you will need to install: You must login or register to view this content.. If you scroll down near the bottom you will find this: You must login or register to view this content.. That is the 999 downgrader you will need. The download from the website will be a download for links once you get the links just enter the url you were given into the search bar on your internet browser and it will automatically start downloading the PS3UPDAT.PUP and that is what you will need to install on your ps3.

You should be able to just install 3.55 ofw normally as you would with any cfw if you have qa enabled. If not you can downgrade using a 999 downgrader pup. You can find rebug's downgrader on their website - rebug.me
Just to add to what Adrian so thoroughly wrote out is install the downgrader from the recovery menu and make sure you don't have a disc in the machine.
