You will need a piece of hardware called a E3 flasher to jailbreak a ps3. You will need the correct chech number as well. It is not as simple as just putting an update on your ps3 and then put it in your ps3. I recommend just buying a pre modded jailbroken ps3 for around the $200 mark. It is way less time consuming then jailbreaking it and it is just better to do so because it is quite hard to flash the console.
