(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So I decided to buy the ez chill fan controller and was going to unplug my ps3 fan from the motherboard when I accidentally pulled the whole connector attached to the motherboard off. I was freaking out so I stripped the other end of the fan controller off, stripped the end of another usb cable off, and connected the wires and covered it up with electrical tape (also connected the usb into a usb port). This solution worked but not exactly as I planned. The fan isn't able to reach max rpm and isn't doing a great job of cooling (better than before though) at the highest rpm it can go now (which isn't very high). Anyone know how I can make it reach max rpm?

Sadly, theirs nothing you can do about that... You can no longer change the fan speed because your fan is no long connected to the power supply directly. It's connected through the USB port. All most all USB cables use 5V and cannot be changed even with a homebrew app :(

Adrian is back!
To change the speeds of the fan it has to be connected to the motherboard.
