Are there any ways to do so?

He can't jailbreak a console on any firmware but 3.55 to jailbreak. The only way to go back to that is downgrade your console with an e3 flasher which is a piece of hardware. Also not every model is downgradable.

Which firmware is he on? Probably not on 3.55 :p Which means he has to buy an E3 flasher to downgrade his console so he can install a custom firmware.

Yea if he is not on 3.55 he needs to buy an e3 flasher, but he needs to check his ps3 model before everything else because there are some models that cannot be downgraded

I really do not recommend buying a e3 flasher and doing it all yourself. It takes a really long time and it is really hard to do. It i only like an extra $100 for someone to do that for you and for the pre modded console itself.
