I'd be satisfied with staying on CEX, but I'm not sure how to get started on what version of CEX to install along with all the things I need to install so I can run scripts and all that.

It's very simple first you need think what you wanna do ? Do you want to mod games? Pirate Games ? Or something else if u want to mod games with RTM then you'll need a DEX CFW if you want a more noob friendly firmware use a CEX CFW - There are many CFW's for both but some are more developed tested and are generally better Rebug firmware in my eyes is the best but not always up to date if u want tutorials etc check out ps3hax and use youtube to learn.

You'll also need a file manager for installing games and modding on CEX I would recommend Multiman

Hope I don't sound dumb, but the main reason I bought a PS3 like this in the first place was so I could use scripts on GTA 5 so yea, I'd like to mod games. On the CFW topic, I was talking to one of my friends and he said I should look at Rogero firmwares (going off of what I told him I wanted to do), but that's really as far as I've gotten. He also said something about QA toggle, but idk what that is or anything.

I've said this multiple times in this section already, but I really advise you to go to a Rebug firmware.
I am using Rebug 4.70 and I have no issues.
Rebug allows for easy DEX<->CEX swapping. (or as Rebug calls it D-REX<->REX)
It literally takes about 2minutes to swap.

I may, as long as I'm still able to perform everything I'd like. Also I'm on 3.55 OFW.

Well, first of all, install a 3.55 CFW.
Make sure to take out any disc that's in the PS3.

Does it have to be any specific 3.55 CFW?
