Make sure you're applying enough pressure on the clip. Tape 3 pennies on top of the clip.

Yes as the pennies will push down on the clip securing a good connection.

What pushes them down to secure pressure?

It won't work my PS3 is a cech 2502B it has a different motheboard to that its harder

The pennies will work trust me. They should not make a difference as they are not getting in the way of any components. You could have the clip getting caught on some transistors. Have you tried shaving the clip abit?
