(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hi,

1. I know there is risk of getting banned if you use CFW/multiman, but exactly how does this occur?
Is it simply playing online while using CFW/multiman?

2. What are consequences of getting banned?

Thanks.

Always disable syscalls before going online, this is the #1 thing you must go to avoid bans.

Other than that modding any game online can result in a ban, it is cheating and you get banned for it. Most of the time being banned for cheating is just your account from that game but can be your PS3 from that game.

Since 4.70 Sony has banned cIDs for logging on with syscalls enabled. People buy cIDs that come from broken PS3s and from people that downgrade PS3s for other people that steal them in the process.

Simply playing online will not get you banned if you have disabled your syscalls. I have never heard of a single time someone has been banned while doing only that.

The consequenses of beiing account banned is you need to create a new accoiunt and start over online. A cID ban will require you to buy a new PS3 or cID.

If you choose to never play online with your CFW PS3 that is no different from being banned.

Thank you very much for the informative answer.
It may be a dumb and obvious question, but how do you disable syscalls?
I actually do not have CFW nor multiman yet, so my familiarity with them is limited.

Thanks.

You disable syscalls through a PS3 homebrew app called PSNPatch Smile

I personally use PSNpatch to disable syscalls, it also sets my cID to a CEX cID rather than the DEX one I have. There are other apps that do the same thing.

I have never disabled them and I'm still online, I just use sen enabler to clear the history

I'm not saying your method is wrong, I'm just sharing my story

I didn't disable them for games I knew were safe for a long time, but since I use PSNpatch to set my CEX cID it does it all at the same time.(including clear history) My point is most games hat ban tend to use the syscall deteection as part of thier banning so disablung them when you don't know what is safe what is not is just good pratice.

BTW both multiMan and PSNpatch clear history too. Like I said there are many apps that do the same thing and that was just the one I use.
