Im asking this because i was looking to buy a ps3 120GB. from gamestop than to downgrade it. But I don't know if that is a good idea. I do know that all 120 GB PS3 slims can be downgrade. The thing Im worry about is the ps3 not being the 120GB model. It could be a 3000 series ps3 for all I know. It seems like something gamestop will do.

Couldn't you just ask them for the certain kind of ps3 you want? Obviously don't tell them what you want that certain one for too downgrade it too 3.55. But just ask them if they got a 120 gb slim.

I would also say to look into what model it is and then obviously if it could be even downgraded
