Yes, you can use the .rco files that include the XMB icon images from a Rebug firmware.

If his rebug is PAL and his ita is NTSC he would soft brick. I wrote a tutorial on how to change the ball color a long time ago.

Wait couldn't he just decrypt rebug.pup and get the xmb files he needs? With pup extractor?

When making a cfw you use it on your ps3 meaning if i base my cfw on a european ofw then i am going to have a different region than a north american cfw. So if he is using a pal version of rebug and is going to a ntsc version of ita then he will aoft brick, if its ntsc to ntsc he is fine and the same with pal to pal.

Look on YouTube thats where i got the file and i did it without any problems

the easy answer - YES - you can have ANY icon in game or out of game any color you want. it is a VERY SLOW process to do so. but easy to learn and actually do. I can help you if you want. as I created my entire XMB red ingame. and its great.
