So I found out I could play ps2 games on my ps3 using the CLASSICS PLACEHOLDER, but whenever I start it up, I get a beautiful black screen and it says my PS3 has turned off (my tv says there is no HDMI outputting but my ps3 is still on).
Well this doesnt answer my question, but I will answer yours. CEX is much easier and simple-er compared to DEX, but DEX allows you to use more types of mods, homebrews, and lets you get the most out of your PS3. If you have a USB thats past 4 gigs, just ask for a ps3 on 3.55 firmware. Then you will be able to install your own CFW and make it easier for yourself. So in the end Id recommend either DEX 3.55 or a 3.55 OFW PS3
Try a different emulator there are plenty of them brewology normally keeps up to date or just google ps2 emulator for ps3 and some roms won't work that's the hardest part I've found I do a lot of nes and it's hit and miss on the roms
