well firstly u need an e3 flasher boy to downgrade ur console to 3.55 after which u can jailbreak it !

You need it. Another option you can do is to buy a 3.55 OFW PS3 off of websites like eBay that are already downgraded. From there, you can simply download a couple update files and install some homebrew and you'll be all set! That is the easier route.

Yes, they are. OFW stands for Official Firmware. It is any firmware that is not jailbroken, such as the latest one required to play online, 4.76. Updates like going from 3.55 OFW to 3.55 Kmeaw which will jailbreak your PS3. After that, you can then update to a 4.xx Firmware such as 4.70.1 Rebug.
