You should be able to know. Ask the person you are buying it from. Is it 3.55 OFW? Is it pre-jailbroken?

Alright. Below is a guide to show you how to set everything up from getting that 3.55 OFW to getting online and such.

I would recommend going to You must login or register to view this content. firmware.

What you do is download that file and then place it on a USB. Inside that USB, make a folder called PS3. Inside the PS3 folder, make another one called UPDATE. In there, put the file you downloaded and rename it to PS3UPDAT.PUP. Make sure all of the folders and files are named with that exact capitalization.

Plug the USB into your PS3 and update it via System Update and then press via Storage Media. Then, go through that process and you should be jailbroken after that. One way you can tell is if you can see Install Package Files under the game tab.

After you have jailbroken your PS3, I would recommend going to a 4.xx CFW so you will be able to go online.

I would recommend going to a firmware such as 4.70.1 REX, that works fine.

You can download that from You must login or register to view this content.

Plug your USB back into your computer and rename PS3UPDAT.PUP to something like 3.55kmeaw.PUP.

Take the second file you downloaded and rename that to PS3UPDAT.PUP and place it in the UPDATE folder.

Plug that into the PS3 and go through System Update --> Update via Storage Media and go through that process.

Once you have done that, you should notice a chance. Your PSN Ball will be the one that was updated in the 4.70 OFW Update and it should be red.

If it is, then you have successfully updated to 4.70.1 REX.

Next, you will need some homebrew and a spoof in order to get online.

I would recommend installing Multiman from You must login or register to view this content. in order to load your games and then installing Arch's 4.76 Spoofer from You must login or register to view this content.

First, install the spoofer.

You can do this by putting the .pkg file on the root of your USB, meaning not inside of ANY folders.

Then, plug that into your PS3.

Go to Package Manager, then click on the first option, and you should see a file in there that contains the words spoof or arch. Press X on it.

It should install that package.

After it installs, you should see a file pop up in the game tab.

Press X on it.

You should see a menu come up. Press on the first option.

Then click on the one that is similar to Activate Spoof or Active Spoof.

Once it does that, it will start to install the spoof. Make sure you do not press anything or turn off your PS3, it is writing files to the /dev_flash/ which can be catastrophic if it is turned off.

After that, you can do the same thing for Multiman. Put it on the USB and then install it the same way you did before.

After that, run it. It will ask you to accept the License/Agreement. Just press Yes three times.

Once you do that, you will be inside Multiman. In Multiman, you can load games and such you have moved to your Internal HDD.

In order to use this, you need games on your PS3.

What you can do is put CD's inside your PS3 and then back them up so that you won't need the CD's each time.

If you want to back a game up, you can put the CD in, press Triangle and then press Copy. It will start copying.

If it aborts, that means that the CD is not clean, so you can try cleaning it to fix the problem.

Next, you will need a way to connect your RTM Tools.

REX/CEX is only compatible with CCAPI so you will have to use that.

To use CCAPI, the computer needs to be on the same WiFi as the PS3.

You can download CCAPI from You must login or register to view this content.

Extract the contents of that file.

You should have a PC and a PS3 folder.

Open the PC folder and install the file in there.

Next, take the .pkg file in the PS3 folder and do the same thing you did with Multiman and the spoof.

After you have imported it on your PS3, run it. It will start installing, so make sure not to turn your PS3 off.

After it has installed, your PS3 should restart.

Next thing you want to do is get the IP of the PS3. You can do this by going to Settings --> System Settings and press X on the second to last option. It should give you an IP Address that starts with 192.168.

Once you have that, go to CCAPI on your PC and open it. Then press on File and Add a New Console.

It will ask you for a host/IP. There you can put the 192.168 number you found.

Then for the name, you can simply put JB or anything you want to name the PS3 for you to remember.

You can test out if it works by right clicking on the name in the side and pressing connect.

If it connects, you have successfully done it Smile

Finally, you just need an Antiban for games.

BO2 has a confirmed working Antiban and you can download it You must login or register to view this content.

What you do with this file is you want to overwrite it on your Black Ops 2 copy. It will put Antiban on to make sure you don't get banned when you are modding Black Ops 2.

In order to do this, you need the game copied to your internal HDD and then you need to download FileZilla.

FileZilla will allow you to overwrite files remotely from your computer. You can download it You must login or register to view this content.

Download that onto your PC and install it.

After you have installed it, you can open it.

In the host area, type that same 192.168 IP you found earlier.

Before pressing Connect, go to Multiman. Then in Multiman, go to settings. Find a setting that says "FTP" in it. You want to change that setting to say No Timeout. It should be one of the options.

After you do that, you can quit Multiman and open it again. Multiman enables FTP service otherwise it will not work. So you need to be in Multiman in order for it to work.

Now press Connect.

You should see a list of files come up on the box on the right.

They should start with /dev_.

You want to double click on /dev_hdd0/ then go to game folder, not GAMES. After that, find BLUS31011 or BLES01717. Those are the region codes for Black Ops 2.

After you have found it, double click it as well. Then, double click the folder called USRDIR.

You should see a list of files come up. Now go back to the EBOOT you downloaded earlier and rename it to EBOOT.BIN with that capitalization.

Drag that EBOOT from wherever it is to the second box. It should ask you to overwrite. You want to select "Overwrite" and then press Okay.

It will start overwriting it and there should be a progress bar in the bottom.

Once it has finished, you can exit out of it. After you do that, you can start modding BO2 with no worries of being banned.

The next thing you will need is an RTM tool. They are very simple to use.

I would recommend using a tool like You must login or register to view this content.

When you download that, make sure the .exe is in a folder with the rest of the .dll files it came with. Open the .exe and you want to select the option for CCAPI.

Once you do that, press the button that says Connect. After that, you can select the console you setup earlier and press Connection.

It should say you have successfully connected.

After that, press Attach. When attaching a tool, make sure you are in the game.

If it says Success, then you can now RTM.

You can do things such as change your name, put constant VSAT on etc.

Let me know if you have any trouble with this.
