Post: 2 Questions - New to jailbreaking
11-12-2015, 08:40 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So I got a jailbreak this monday and been having a blast modding private matches and zombies on some games, but I've recently looked into removing the CFW that came on it and managed to replace it with rebug-rex 4.75.1 and converted to DEX mode using the toolbox. Figured out how to go online and all that stuff and now am stuck with RTMing.

1 ) Is it possible to RTM with the way I have TMAPI set up ? It's like this : wired router to PS3 -> PC is on wifi -> NOT wired PS3 to PC ( I can't do this atm ). I can connect with TMAPI just fine, but attaching an RTM tool keeps giving me the error it's unable to attach. I have all the settings setup right I believe. Settings I got are ;

-NP env
-network settings for debug : Single
-release mode : developer
-boot mode : software mode
-On PC I have the network sharing option enabled.
-Rebug mode
-Cobra ON
-Webman ON

Second question :

2 ) Should I stay on rebug-rex in DEX mode or convert to rebug D-Rex ? If I should convert, is it possible to just update to that firmware without having to downgrade first again ?

And third and last question

3 ) If an update comes out for the CFW that I'm on, do I always need to downgrade or can I upgrade immediately ?

Thanks in advance !

For your first question, the reason it is not attaching is because TMAPI needs a Debug EBOOT in order for it to attach to the game. So, you bed to find a Debug EBOOT and install it.

As for your second question, I do recommend converting to D-REX as it is a better overall firmware and can do a lot of things REX can't. You can't upgrade to it immediately OR downgrade. What is your current Rebug firmware?

Finally, for your third question, if a new CFW comes out, you CAN update immediately as long as it is a higher firmware and is on the same one. For example, Rebug to Rebug, or ITA to ITA. You can upgrade to a higher firmware between different firmwares but I would recommend downgrading first if you are going to a different firmware, for example, Rebug to ITA. Keep in mind you CAN'T use a normal Rogero or Rebug downgraded, you need a special 3.55 DEX Downgrader. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the quick reply. The tool I was using said "connect debug" and that succeeded so I figured it put a debug eboot in my folder already. I'll try putting a debug one in there and see if it works.

My rebug firmware is rex 4.75.1 ( decided not to go for 4.75.3 because I don't see anything about it on youtube or other websites ). So I can't just upgrade to D-Rex ?

Correct, you would need to convert it by using You must login or register to view this content. tutorial here.

That tutorial explains the same thing I did. I switched from CEX to DEX on rebug rex, and it now says LV2 kernel : DEX, Target type : DEX and Firmware 4.75 DEX does that mean I'm on D-rex ?

And whenever I use PSNpatch and use the X option it'll show up with LV2 kernel CEX, target type : DEX. Is it supposed to say CEX after using psnpatch ? I can use sprx DEX menus just fine online when it says that, but I don't know if it might have anything to do with not being able to RTM.

The debug EBOOT thing didn't work either btw. It still says connected success with the debug option like before, and still cannot attach process game when I click attach. I tried hooking up the PS3 differently like this : PC wifi with sharing enabled -> Hooked up to PS3. I can connect with TMAPI still like before, but this time it won't even connect the debug option in the RTM tool.

Thanks in advance !

Oh last question. Would D-Rex be better for DEX or is there a better and more suggested CFW for DEX ?

I would recommend staying on the firmware that you are currently on. As for the TMAPI issue, try Bridging the Connections instead. And when you attach, are you using an RTM tool to attach and what game are you trying to attach?

I am indeed trying to attach via an RTM tool. It's the Razor v1 RTM mod menu for Modern Warfare 2. It has 3 options in the beginning : Connect Debug, Attach and open menu. I can succeed with the first debug option, then attaching fails. And if you mean bridging as in connecting PS3 to PC that completely ruins it and won't even succeed the first option anymore. Completely clueless as to why it's not working right now . . .

So it's normal for the kernel to say CEX after using psnpatch ?

I believe so. If Rebug Toolbox says both the LV2 Kernel and Target Type is DEX, then you are on D-REX. Have you transferred the Debug EBOOT correctly? Make sure it is placed in /dev_hdd0/game/MW2 Game/USRDIR/ and replace it there. Make sure it is renamed to EBOOT.BIN as well.

Yep. Debug EBOOT renamed, and placed in the correct folder. Even tried multiple ( tried making one myself with resigner, tried downloaded some with mods and some clean ones, etc ... ) always same thing. Debug option works, attach doesn't.
