Post: USB ports on fat PS3 not working

I was downgrading a fat PS3 today, got upto attaching the e3 clip and I bent the clip. I didn't have another So I put the PS3 back together and tried to connect my controller and it wouldn't connect. I have tried 3 different cables 2 different controllers and tried charging my phone. It Doesn't work. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

I think I know what your problem is... I don't know what the part is called but I found a picture on the internet and put arrows next to it...

You need to make sure that you push it in deep, make sure you push it in far you'll feel a strong grip onto it once it's pushed down far enough...

Then make sure that these two strip holders and clamped onto it, here is an image...

As Helping hand said, Make sure all connectors are reconnected, If your problem persists you may have damaged the motherboard.

It's primarily that piece of aluminium, it supplies power to the USB ports and enables you to sync the controller... you have to take it apart if you want to downgrade a console. Some people forget to push it in, which results in no power being sent to the USB ports...

Hey, Thanks for the help. You were 100% right I didnt have that cable in all the way. I just pushed it in further and I know have working usb ports. Thanks bro!
