Okay now when you put a new hard drive in a PS3 and doesn't recognize the system don't you have to put it in a safe mode or restore the system for it to recognize the new hard drive or can you get pre configured hard drive and you just play?

if the hdd is already formatted it should ask you to restart the system or hold in start and select to scan for update data. copy the same cfw you are using onto a usb/PS3/UPDATE place it in the slot closest to the blue ray. do the scan and install. once its finished you should be able to turn on the ps3 and start up fine with your cfw,

NOTE!: make Sure you have no disks in your BD!

Okay now do I have to downgrade to 3.55 before I install the new drive or can I just download the CFW (4.70 DEX) on the usb and then just install that firmware? When it prompts me to install the firmware?
