No, I don't think so since your using the AV slot on the PS3... you could get it repaired cheaply. May I ask how did it break?

You can use 720p / 1080i if you use a component cable. I used to use component for years before I got a HDMI TV. I don't know how to fix it though

well you can replace the port if you got a heat gun, heat it up, lift it off, & flux the pads and set new port on and heat up. i do it all the time with charging ports on cellphones/tablets and have done many hdmi ports on tv's
