How do I do that
1. Turn off your PlayStation 3 so you see the glowing red light.
2. Turn on your PlayStation 3 and HOLD the power button. Keep holding until it turns off.
3. Now turn it on again but this time it will be a little different. Press and hold the power button and you will hear. one Beep, one Beep, then two quick Beeps at this point release the power button. If you release it too late it will just turn off again. Return to step 2 if this happens.
4. You will be greeted with a screen asking you to connect a controller with a USB cable. Connect your controller with a USB cable.
Congratulations, you've made it to the PlayStation 3's Recovery menu.

You would then,
Download your cfw
Rename the file to "PS3UPDAT.PUP" (no quotes)
1. On a fat32 formatted usb flash drive, create a folder named "PS3"
2. Inside the "PS3" folder, create a folder named "UPDATE"
3. Inside the "UPDATE" folder, place your PS3UPDAT.PUP
structure should be fat32formattedflashdriveroot/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP
4.Put the flash drive into your furthest right port on the ps3
5. Select option "update system"
Follow the prompt and it should install and next boot should be xmb
