A couple of weeks ago, I wanted to change from DEX to CEX, and when I tried to go through with the process and restart, it gave me the RSOD and I have no idea what to do about it. I can access the recovery menu but my controller doesn't work there because I have a third party controller. Is there any fix for this that I could do that doesn't require the official sony controller?

Yes I can go recovery but my controller doesn't work

When i start the ps3 the rebug logo comes up with the waves for .5 sec and then rsod

I saw this on ps3hax. his controller wont connect because it's 3rd party. He needs to buy or borrow an Official ps3 controller from a friend connect through USB and reinstall his CFW. if it failed to transfer over to cex he needs to go to a dex cfw, if it worked, then cex

You will definitely need a wired controller of some sort. This is mandatory to use the machine in recovery mode.


1. Boot your ps3 in recovery
2. Install You must login or register to view this content.
This will bypass RSOD and display the xmb
3. Once on downgrader, install and run You must login or register to view this content.
4. QA_flag, if needed You must login or register to view this content.
then you should be good.

Then you need to find out if you are on cex or dex and install a cfw of your choice based on what region you are using.
