The light on the PS3 isn't even on, so to shut it on i have to click the start button twice..?
does not unlock my minecraft story mode trial, still trial

The latest firmware I've used with that method is 4.75. It should work as long as the .rap files are valid and the dlc is compatible with your game's region.
It's the same for reactpsn as well, have to have the main account activated.
Just use a public CID if you need to, just to get the activation done..

Trying now, i am on 4.46 DEX Rebug.
Keeps giving 80710A06 when changing using CCAPI.
Spoof neccesary..?

Okay, didn't work.
I activated, i had to use a DLC unlocker for the Minecraft to make it work.. and the Burnout DLC's with Rap files in /dev_usb000/exdata is detecting but not doing anything, no dlc unlocked.
