(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Alright so I was playing some S&Awesome face in MW3 last night and me having mods, I was luckily host and had access to my full mod menu. So the game goes on for a couple of rounds and I'm just screwing around using noclip to get out of the map and what not. In fact, I wasn't even using my mods to win the game; the opposite team won 2 rounds while we didn't win any lol. A couple of people join the match and one of them was on my team. During the next round, I guess I was the only one left alive on my team and the opposite team had planted the bomb. I had noclip on and I was carrying a truck around the map just screwing around. The bomb exploded and the opposite team won another round.

The next round began and the person who joined late and was on my team had his mic on. He (knowing I was using mods) proceeded to say: "Hey [insert my psn here]...". There was about 30 seconds of silence after he said that and then all of a sudden, a host migration. I saw the players' names on the scoreboard start to disappear one by one and then a message on the top right of my screen appeared briefly: "An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PSN (807...don't remember full code)". I was returned to the main multiplayer menu and I decided it was getting late anyway so I turned off my PS3. Got on my computer and noticed my internet was disconnected as well. I was really doubtful that someone would be able to actually disconnect my internet so I didn't really piece the two together. My internet remained disconnected for roughly 10 minutes or something.

Today, I turned on my PS3 to have another session of playing video games and when I logged on, the message "You have received a message." appeared in the top right corner. So I proceeded to my inbox and saw a message from the player from yesterday. It said: "get hit off" which was sent right after I got disconnected. I'm not sure what it's actually supposed to mean but I can only think that he was trying to be clever by saying "Hey [insert name]...", boots me offline, "get hit off". But I'm not 100% sure if this would even be possible. What do you think? How would someone even be able to actually disconnect me from my ISP (unless you're that competent with computers, which 99% of players, let alone people aren't)? This actually concerns me because if there're are mentally unstable kids running around with the ability to knock other people off from the internet, then I don't really want to play these games anymore lol.

As much as I would love to have a VPN, I'm not in control of/paying for my internet access. All I pretty much care about right now is knowing if this was a possible attack (ddos?). For all I know, my internet could have just coincidentally shut off at the same time I encountered that player.

DDoS is possible! Probably your connection had issues! Not sure , but it can either be one of the two! Good luck! Smile

There is a strong possibility that he traced your IP Address and then used some sort of booter to hit you offline.

I can confirm that it was an attack by the person I had encountered as I confronted him by messaging him. Would it be against the rules if I posted his PSN here?

I'm guessing there is easily acquirable software for that, which can be obtained via YouTube tutorials? lol

Nothing good will come from posting their PSN here and infact you'll probably get in some trouble for posting it so i advice against it. As far as how to go about doing what they did we do NOT endorse or encourage that sort of thing here on NGU so you'll have to rely on YouTube and Google.

It's fine. I already learned how to do it (it requires almost no knowledge to do lol). Now I can remain comfy knowing how it is done and how it can be prevented. But don't worry, I don't condone such ass activities either. I wouldn't even be modding if asses didn't keep deranking me.
