i'll try bending the clamps & let you's know how i go!
with the heat, would a hair dryer work? they get pretty hot
Once overheat damages are done, it will take more than just changing thermal paste to fix.
lol I don't recommend sticking it in the oven either..
Bend the clamps if you notice they arent allowing contact with the chip
If you really want to jump start this thing and attempt to keep it alive:
1. Buy a heatgun capable of at least 600*F
2. Take your ps3 apart to remove the motherboard
3. Life it with coins or sit it raised so that it is even
4. Blast the two big silver chips (CPU/GPU) about 3 inches away, in small circles, for about 10-15 minutes
5. Allow to cool for at least 15 minutes
6. Change thermal paste (arctic silver 5 only, for ps3s) make sure it is thin, flat, and evenly spread using a card
7. Put back together and try to turn it on.
Could last an hour, a day, a month, a year, or more. You never really know. The less it has been opened/repaired, the longer the life expectancy. If you give it a nice blast and do it correctly the first time, chances are it won't need to be done for a long while.
