A friend of mine said he bought a fat from the US and it works fine just gotta change the plug if so wouldn't the console run a lot hotter with double the electricity running to PSU?

Yes you should be good, get the plug adapter and have fun! You must login or register to view this content.

Generally you have to check if your electronic device has dual voltage, check on the label and see if it says 120v-240v. In which case the power supply will switch automatically and all you need is the correct plug. I guess in Sony's case they don't list it specifically but it is universal.
